On Saturday 2 June the Festival presents `The Best of the 1970s` with live performances from The Three Degree, The Real Thing, Odyssey, Les McKeons Bay City Rollers, Showaddy Waddy, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. The Whitehaven Festival prides itself in showcasing the ‘best of British` and incl`des culinary delights from some UK celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli along with Ainsley Harriot and Coronation Street`s Sean Wilson (ex Martin Platt) who is now one of the UKs renowned cheese makers. According to founder and organiser Gerard Richardson MBE, there will more acts announced in the next fortnight. Meanwhile, festival-goers are flocking in this year to see tall ships, air shows, street comedy, the best of Cumbria`s food producers and will be able to browse a giant Continental market. Mr Richardson, who first established the festival in 1999, said today, “Last year`s extravaganza attracted 330,000 separate visits to the harbourside in Whitehaven, Cumbria, and pumped £4m into the local economy. The festival is run by volunteers and as a result we have been able to bring more than £35m into the Whitehaven area since the festival`s inception. Being such a big part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration means 2012 is on track to being a landmark event and one of the big highlights in the UK festival calendar.” Notes to Editors Tickets for the Festival can be purchased at www.thewhitehavenfestival.co.uk Tickets are priced at £49.00 for Friday, £39.99 for Saturday, and to be confirmed for Sunday. FREE FESTIVAL. 5 stages and over 100 acts over 2 days.
Now in its fifth year Basingstoke Live is more than just a music festival. Music is still at the heart of the festival but in order to celebrate the creativity of artists from around the borough and region you will find a whole range of acts from music, art, drama and dance. The Headliners on Saturday 14 July will be drum and bass heavy weights \"Fabio and Grooverider\". From their early days in the acid house scene to more than a decade presenting on Radio One, both DJs have been hugely successful developing their own styles and sounds to critical acclaim. From the Jam headline on Sunday 15 July. After Mod revival legends The Jam split on the early 80\'s, bassist Bruce Foxton has seen success as a solo artist and with several bands, most notably his 15 years with Stiff Little Fingers. From the Jam features Bruce along with drummer Mark Brzezicki, formerly with Big Country, and front man Russell Hastings to give a truly authentic interpretation of the Jam\'s back catalogue, including \"Town called Malice\", \"Eton Rifles\" and\"Going Underground\". HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! |

Music and Merriment is celebration and expression of local musical talent, community involvement and spirit.
It’s about people coming together to create something great, whether donating their talent on stage, their time backstage or their support by buying tickets and attending. Uniquely, everyone who performs at, or works on the festival does so for free, allowing us to produce this incredible event on a very tight budget, and donate every penny of profit to support local charities. Any age and any musical genre, whether experienced performers or not. Everyone is welcome to share in a day of musical entertainment. How it all began Tim Wood grew up at the foot of the festival site, Spetisbury Rings, and as a child always thought it would be a great place to have a festival. It wasn’t his mum Teresa sadly died from cancer in 2006, and was so incredibly well cared for by The Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, that he had a reason great enough to finally attempt it. So, entirely self funded and fuelled only by an incredible amount of passion Tim, his sister Jenny and four of their friends set about organising their first festival! 2009 and 2010 saw the first two amazing events, and now after a year break, we are back and bigger than ever! Ready to entertain with an incredible day of music in the most spectacular surrounding of Spetisbury Rings, with all profits going to support local charities. |

Let`s beat that this year though - so far the Cudham Craic has donated over £5000 to charity - let`s double that this year!! This is Cudham`s FOURTH annual festival of performing arts run by KentBand.com and The Blacksmith`s Arms, Cudham. George, Joyce, Philip and Hazel are yet again planning an extravaganza of a `Craic like never seen in Cudham!` This year is bigger, better, and even more fun - bringing music to the village, for the village and the surrounding areas. * Lots of Live Music 1pm - 11:30pm (Doors - 12:00 midday) * HUGE Outside Stage * Family BBQ from 1pm * Marquee Cover * Fully stocked outside bar incl. draught lager, bitter & Guinness * 50 x £7.50 Early Bird discounted tickets will be available on the door on the day until sold out - so get there early to bag one of these!! A % of the profits from ticket sales (minimum £2 per ticket) is being donated to Bromley Mind (for better mental health), the rest is spent on the festival. The Blacksmith`s will be serving food all day, the bar will be open and the sun will be out!! (well, if it`s not there`s oodles of `weather` cover for you, so no need to worry!) |

The Big Green Cardigan returns in 2012 with the same policy and philosophy - intimate, chilled, relaxed and not big and brash. The Big Green Cardigan restricts itself to a limited number of people to create a relaxed atmosphere, no long queues for the bar or toilets, but with the full festival experience all set within the East Sussex countryside, situated just down the road. Of course there will be lots of music, no distinctive style, the theme is that there is no theme - any genre is possible on our 2 stages from blues to Celtic to jazz. It’s all undercover so don’t worry about the unpredictable British weather.
Artists due to appear include the 'cuddly toy' himself, Roachford. The barnstorming Achanak, who, have played all the major festivals worldwide. Throw in Medieval folk rockers Circulus and a late night chill zone. Not forgetting a good smattering of local artists including, King Size Slim, Titus, Mike Bolton and, a reformed and gigging again, Expandis. 3 days of quality music no cover bands. One of the successes of last year was our bar stocked with Real Ales, all brewed in Sussex and a wine bar supplied by Sedlescombe vineyard. New this year is the opportunity to hire a Yurt for the weekend. |
