Formed by Dave Blake and Rick Gauntlett in 1990 Perfect
Alibi have now been performing together for over sixteen
years.
The band started out on the pub circuit playing quality
rock covers by The Eagles, Neil Young, Genesis, Marillion
and Pink Floyd.
The music was different enough at the time from the usual
pub rock covers and we very quickly built up quite a following
around Southampton and surrounding areas.
For quite a number of years we averaged 50-80 gigs a year
and have had many line-up changes but we have always pushed
on with very little time off the road.
Early on we started taking a big PA and lighting set-up
around with us in order to put on more of a show which led
us gradually into larger music venues and clubs.
Requests from people for more Pink Floyd songs in the
set meant that we were soon performing a 45-60 minute set
of Pink Floyd along with a set of mixed covers at certain
venues.
Around 1998-9 we decided that it would be fun to stage
a Pink Floyd tribute show in a local theatre which was a
big success and it then became impossible not to carry on
as a Pink Floyd tribute.
Perfect Alibi currently play around 40 Pink Floyd numbers
from all of the eras but primarily from Darkside Of The Moon
onwards including solo songs from Gilmour and Water.
It is always our intention to perform with a passion capturing
the feel and essence of a live Pink Floyd show rather than
just trying to recreate note for note the recorded songs. In
doing so we are not afraid to change the songs or improvise
within them, just like Pink Floyd or Gilmour/Waters have
done over many years.
The show continues to evolve with sophisticated lighting,
lasers, projections and pyrotechnics, always with an intention
to make things as visually spectacular as possible.
"Possibly", the most enjoyable Pink
Floyd tribute there is!
