Music Festival in Harpenden Public Halls, Southdown Rd, Harpenden, Hertfordshire
"Summer Sounds in Hertfordshire"
Saturday July 22 2017 to Saturday July 22 2017 | Start Time Approximately 14:00
Before we know it Summer will be upon us, and by popular demand, so will this festival......

Showcasing the quality of live music in the UK and adding a distinct Americana flavour to the line-up; with Hitman Blues Band & The New York City Horns headlining plus five other very different, but striking bands, this will undoubtedly be another great festival and an occasion not to miss!

The Hitman Blues Band is getting worldwide recognition with their new release “The World Moves On” being hailed as "the best yet!". Their previous release, “Blues Enough”, was in the running for two Grammy nominations and with a live show that engages the audience with great musicianship, great music, and a liberal dose of humor, The Hitman Blues Band will light up your audience!

This year's full line-up comprises of:

Hitman Blues Band & The New York City Horns - with his striking charismatic personality, Blues Grammy-nominated Hitman knows how to put on an entertaining show, playing superb blues originals and covers with a hugely-talented band!

Lisa Mills – Mississippi native, now Alabama resident Lisa Mills could be called a blues singer, or a gospel singer, or a torch singer or an R&B singer, and each label would be accurate......the only way to get this, is to see and hear Lisa play!

Red Butler – dynamic rock/blues band Red Butler is fast making a name for itself across Britain and Europe with audiences instantly tapping into the fire and passion generated by the young band from Brighton!

Matt Woosey Band – Matt is an artist who slips the creative straightjacket of the modern industry, a trailblazer with no reverse gear, a performer who drags the acoustic guitar kicking and screaming into fresh relevance!

Jack J Hutchinson - is touring the UK with his backing band. Expect loud, electric blues that is equal parts Magic Sam and Elmore James, with a touch of Peter Green thrown in for good measure!

Split Whiskers - this energetic 5 piece from Cambridge and Leicester have their roots firmly planted in Chicago blues, crossing boundaries into rock, Americana with more than a hint of the Delta!

With this calibre of artist stepping on stage, festival goers can expect to see top class live performances and hear a range of incredible sounds with sets that incorporate a creative mix of Blues, Rock and R & B, with a sprinkling of Gospel in the mix!
No need to worry about searching for food and drinks on the day either, there will be a range of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages, real ales available and a varied menu that should meet everyone's taste!

Don't miss out on going to Harpenden Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival 2 on Saturday 22nd July

Don’t be late, doors open at 1.30 p.m, the music starts at 2.00 p.m. and ends at 10.00 p.m.

MEKONVILLE
Friday July 28 2017 to Sunday July 30 2017 | Start Time Approximately 16:00
MEKONVILLE 40 years ago this year a group of art students formed a band in Leeds. The band never split up but evolved over the years from art punk to alt-Americana and beyond with countless spin offs along the way. No less than 3 films have been made about them.

Iconic journalist Lester Bangs called them "the most revolutionary group in the history of rock'n'roll" (and then he asked to borrow some money, says Andy).

This year for the first time ever both the original line up (who last played New Years Eve, New York City in 1980) and the current line up will be playing at Mekonville.

The Mekons will be joined by some special friends from the past 40 years across many genres, but there'll also be new bands, film, spoken word, weird stuff, art and crafts, dancing, kids activities, running around, building dens, bonfires and much more.

Music Festival in Various venues around Bridport town
Bridport Folk Festival
Friday August 11 2017 to Sunday August 13 2017 | Start Time Approximately 10:30
Bridport Folk Festival Sometimes…., just sometimes, Dreams do come true. From the late 60’s and into the Millennium, I along with others whose love of Folk Music has been an integral part of life, have often dreamt of a Folk Festival worthy of Bridport. Aug 2017 will see the realisation of that dream when we shall be blessed with an excess of 60 acts. Many you may be familiar with, others less so but collectively we have an array of Folk talent that would grace any Festival stage. Foremost among whom is nationally acclaimed Musician Reg Meuross.

We are delighted that Reg has agreed to be our patron and knowledge of this has had a real impact resulting in many musicians wishing to be on the bill.

The addition of ‘BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominees ‘Ninebarrow’ to our lineup has had a similar effect.

Of course no ‘Folk Festival’ can be deemed such without the vibrant sounds and colour of Dancers and to this end we now have 27 Dance Sides comprising many genres from ‘Morris, Clog and Appalachian to Irish and Scottish. This colourful and energetic infusion brings a dynamism to the Festival and the proposed road closure will see the finale’ of a Guinness World record attempt with an excess of 160 performers dancing to “Bonny Green Garter”.

The Festival will conclude with a full street Ceilidh of an anticipated thousand dancers.

Dreadzone
Saturday October 21 2017 to Saturday October 21 2017 | Start Time Approximately 19:30
Dreadzone Entering an impressive 3rd decade, Dreadzone, one of the most energetic, exciting and powerful live bands to emerge from the post-rave scene, released a brand new album “Dread Times” in February which stormed into the Top 40 UK Official Album Charts on release – the first time the band have charted in over 20 years. The album also made the Top 10 in the Indie and Dance Charts.

Their old skool dread sound comes bubbling to the surface on this album and it digs deeper into their dub and reggae roots whilst still keeping the beats fresh and the textures electronic. Conscious lyrics, social ills, matters of the heart and mind merge with 21st century dubwise flavours. The album is an eclectic rolling journey that recalls elements from an illustrious 23 year history while always looking ahead to the next phase. ‘Dread Times’ is the band’s 8th studio album and the 3rd release on their own Dubwiser label.

Since their inception in 1993 Dreadzone have steadily been releasing underground storms of albums, progressively bettering, refining and perfecting their own unique and inimitable take on dub – mixed as it is with aspects of dance, sublime guitar riffs, folk roots sentiments and breakbeat bass styles – whilst bringing the party to every club, dancehall and field they’ve shown up at. Always blowing audiences away and steadily earning for themselves the best possible reputation as a live act in the process.
