Gig at The Passenger Shed in Bristol

Band / Bands: The Blockheads LIVE plus Special Guests
Other Info: Formed in 1977 by Ian Dury to promote his album 'New Boots and Panties', the band became known as 'Ian Dury and the Blockheads', and went on to achieve success in the UK and across the globe, with their most known record arguably being 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick', which reached number one in the UK in 1979.

The band have undergone various changes in line-up over the years, but following Ian's death in March 2000, the group continued to record and perform, and now consists of Jankel, Watt-Roy, Gallagher, Turnbull, Roberts, and Lewis, with Hussey writing songs and performing lead vocals.

Now, over 40 years after they were first formed, the band's April performance promises to be a night to remember, with gig-goers also treated to the musical stylings of Special Guests, 'Joe James and the Pariahs' and 'Ruzz Guitar's Blues Revue'.
'Ruzz Guitar's Blues Revue' are a powerful and soul-injected Blues and Rock and Roll band from Bristol with a unique genre-bending sound. Formed in 2014 by lead Gretsch-endorsed guitarist, Ruzz, the band have gone from strength to strength opening for many well-known acts including Dr Feelgood, Bill Kirchen, and now The Blockheads.

'Joe James and the Pariahs' are self-described as "fuzzed up R and B driven freakbeat", which should pique anyone's curiosity enough to see these guys live!

With this fantastic line-up, it's obvious that this is a performance fans of rock and roll won't want to miss!

Gig at Zed Alley in Bristol

Band / Bands: King Bee play "live " Funk / Jazz Funk The FunkTrain Bristol Zed Alley
Other Info: Originating from Newcastle King Bee are one of the funkiest bands on the planet , we are excited to announce that they are playing Bristol Zed Alley, May 2019 for the launch party of a brand new funk and soul club , the Funk Train . King Bee has been providing unstoppable grooves since 2011.

Boasting an unorthodox line-up which includes sax, flute, trumpet, synthesisers, and vibraphone, the original jazz/funk fusion sounds of this seven piece Newcastle based band have recently taken on a more edgy electronic and on occasion psychedelic element.

Inspired originally by jazzfunk legends Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd and Herbie Hancock, King Bee has established itself as one the finest exponents of the genre in the UK.

" These guys are consummate musicians and do not take prisoners"... Blues and Soul

Tracks from the album "Return of the Dave" and "Jellyman Funk" had national radio support from Mike Chadwick (Jazz FM), Craig Charles (BBC 6 Music) and Robert Elms (BBC London) amongst many others.

" A revelation!"...Craig Charles BBC 6 Music

The follow up release "Bee to the Flower" featured a remix by renowned French DJ/Producer The Reflex. Both tracks made an impact , catching the ear of ex Radio One and JazzFM DJ Robbie Vincent who included it in his comeback radio programme for Christmas 2017, and was subsequently play-listed for the Ronnie Scott's Radio Show on JazzFM in early 2018.

"King Bee. One of the finest funk outfits in the North of England"...Band on the Wall Manchester

The band draws heavily on acid-jazz roots. Its music for the heart, the head and the feet. It has enabled King Bee to open for Lonnie Liston Smith and Mr Roy Ayers. King Bee has played up and down the UK from Shetland to Kent, taking in the 2017 Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival, Manchester's Band on the Wall (twice), SAGE Gateshead International Jazz Festival and of course Newcastle's premier venue for jazz, funk, and soul Hoochie Coochie - the band's spiritual home.
