Band / Bands: Danni Nicholls
Other Info: With the wind in her sails from receiving consecutive Americana Music Association UK award nominations (2017 'UK Album of the Year' for Mockingbird Lane and 2018 'UK Artist of the Year'), singer-songwriter Danni Nicholls has been enjoying an incredible ride. From supporting the legendary Shakin' Stevens on his 28 date major UK tour to opening for the mighty Lucinda Williams and The Secret Sisters plus being invited to perform at prestigious events such as Folk Alliance International, Cambridge Folk Festival, Tonder Festival, Denmark and AmericanaFest in Nashville .... 2019 is set to be just as exciting.
Following her first two critically acclaimed studio albums, A Little Redemption (2013) and Mockingbird Lane (2015), this year sees the release of her third - The Melted Morning - produced by Jordan Brooke Hamlin (The Indigo Girls, Lucy Wainwright-Roche) at the idyllic woodland studio MOXE, Nashville TN.
Closely personal yet widely relatable, the themes of this album span an array of life's takeaways from the pain and darkness of rejection, the fear of losing yourself and the power of human connection to offering up hope and new perspectives in the face of adversities.
"I needed a new challenge, a new landscape to work in sonically, physically and viscerally. Collaborating with Jordan and this incredible team of musicians gave me that opportunity and I have come away with a delicate, vibey, honest and vulnerable collection of songs that we dove deep into to find out who they wanted to become"
Her vibrant, spell binding performances are guaranteed to melt your heart into the soles of your boots. Danni's passionate delivery, captivating velvet voice and charmingly engaging between-song banter compel you to fall under her spell.

"An artist with the elegance and imagination to restore your faith in the visceral power of an original song"
Paul Sexton, BBC Radio 2 and freelance print/broadcast journalist

"I absolutely love the elegance and beauty of her music"
Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

"Danni is one of our favourites. She's a dedicated, prolific creator, combining memorable melodies with thoughtful lyrics. Danni's performances are captivating; her natural warmth making any stage her own."
David Pick, Founder & CEO Vintage TV

"Her passion for her craft is unparalleled. Her depth of emotion, commitment to the song
and ability to go deep, makes her a rare artist."
Jed Hilly - Executive Director of the Americana Music Association

"Smoky soul, folk-pop and heart-wrenching alt-country, all in a rich voice"

Band / Bands: IO Earth
Other Info: Back by popular demand, presented by The Classic Rock Society

One of the most exciting progressive rock bands on the UK scene at the moment, IO Earth released their debut album back in 2009. Led by the creative axis of Dave Cureton (guitars) and Adam Gough (keyboards), the band have released four albums to increasingly popular acclaim, with second album Moments being followed by the double disc epic New World and finally their latest, the stunning conceptual work Solitude. Capable of shifting from driving, heavy riffs to gentle, reflective passages on the proverbial dime, the band are a model of contrasting delicacy and power.

Always at their best in the live environment, the band are currently fronted by their third singer, Birmingham native Rosanna LeFevre, and are sounding better than ever. The full line-up is Rosanna Lefevre (vocals), Dave Cureton (guitar), Adam Gough (keyboards), Jez King (violin, guitar), Luke Shingler (woodwind), CJ Jerromes (drums) and Christian Nokes (bass). Following on from their Citadel show last September, demand for a return has been overwhelming.

Kaleidoscope Music Memes

Luke Daniels the award winning and critically acclaimed folk musician and singer hosts a series of folk and world music concerts at Citadel St Helens that will make use of mobile technology to jointly create new music with audiences in the run up to each performance. Showcasing three world-class performers from Syria, China, South Africa via fortnightly duo concerts that culminate in a final full quartet performance.

The idea that the evolution of music which takes place over generations can be reproduced and sped up via modern mobile technology and social media will be central to this series of outstanding concerts.

The three-month project starts at the end of March with sixteen public performances featuring the most popular of their ‘memetically’ created works throughout May June via a specially formed consortium of four northwest venues.

Kaleidoscope Music Memes

Imagine being able to create your own musical pieces from ‘sound lego’ using your smart phone before sharing your ideas with professional musicians ahead of a planned live performance.

Audiences from Citadel St Helens along with those from Met Bury, Atkinson Southport and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall will be able to create and share their own musical arrangements from a pool of prerecorded interlocking audio clips of each artist involved by downloading the ‘music memes’ mobile app to contribute towards the development of their final work.

Luke Daniels is a multi- instrumentalist specialising in button accordion and melodeon Luke has enjoyed a long career collaborating with a range of artists and organisations as a means of promoting folk music. Riverdance, London Jazz Festival, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Celtic Connections and English National Opera.

Abel Selaocoe is a South African cellist who collaborates with beatboxers and world musicians whilst giving solo classical recitals and concerto performances as a soloist with numerous orchestras including Kwa-Zulu Philharmonic, Johnannesburg Phil and Randburg Symphony. Gig at The Citadel in St Helens

Band / Bands: The Doors Alive
Other Info: The Doors Alive widely regarded as the closest and most enthralling representation of the legendary 1960’s rock gods, The Doors, in the world today. The band formed in 2005. Since then there have been 3 Jims, 2 Rays, 2 Robbys and just 1 John, but the current line up is the best it has ever been!

The band re-create the sound, look, presence and magic of a real 1960’s Doors concert, perfectly and effortlessly transporting the audience back in time with classic hits such as ‘Light My Fire’, ‘When The Music’s Over, Riders On The Storm, The End and many more. The Doors Alive have over 1,000 shows under their belt to date.

Their frontman, Mike, captures the look, attitude, and rich baritone voice of the late, great Jim Morrison with ease while his compadres showcase the musical chops of original Doors members Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore with finesse and authenticity.

The Doors Alive have left awestruck audiences in 15 countries around the world, including the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Malta, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, UAE and Chile. They have played at the legendary Isle of Wight Festival and played on the same bill with such legendary musicians as Status Quo, Nazareth, Uriah Heep, Hayseed Dixie, and Eric Burdon, to name but a few. To achieve their authentic sixties sound, the band use the very same instruments that members of the Doors originally used. With their arsenal of vintage gear, they create note perfect musical landscapes that evoke the swinging days of The Doors at their peak.

“To call The Doors Alive merely a tribute act would be a huge disservice to what is the closest thing possible to experiencing a Doors concert without the aid of a flux capacitor and 1.21 gigawatts. They are high priests who allow us to worship at the altar of The Doors by continuing the word and gospels of Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore.” – Pure Magazine, Ireland.
