Band / Bands: Long Division & Bodys present: Meursault + Mi Mye
Other Info: For this special show Bodys will present favourites from Edinburgh, Meursault, along with Wakefield/Leeds heroes Mi Mye.

9.15pm Meursault
Meursault are the saddest of the Frightened Rabbit songs and the most beautiful of the King Creosote songs, but entirely with their own heartbreaking and often acerbic personality, and modestly anthemic choruses will have you wailing 'I Will Kill Again'. Drowned in Sound said of their latest album 'Meursault have always displayed a charm and panache that set them apart from their peers. Raw emotion and personal tumult have been fertile ground for Neil Pennycook & co. but it's not all sad strumming and "woe is me" laments; their songs bite and swoon and soar, sometimes softly, sometimes majestically. And while they've been getting steadily more uptempo and polished in their writing, Pennycook's voice can still stab like a dagger of ice to the heart.'

8.15pm Mi Mye
I'm biased about Mi Mye because I have been in the band for a few years now, so here is what Deer Shed Festival are saying about our set there later this year: 'If you’re after raw, personal song-writing ripped straight from the heart, then Mi Mye is the band for you. Quietly, but surely, Lockhart’s beautifully crafted repertoire of songs has built him up to be something of a cult icon in his adoptive home, in part due to his profound encounters with Yorkshire cityscapes and urban life featuring prominently in his poetic lyrics. Fusing stark Bukowskian observations of human depravity in the city with the sensitivity of modern songwriters like Conor Oberst or Dan Bejar, Mi Mye are masters of pulling at the listeners heartstrings and engrossing them in the magical world of his work.'

Band / Bands: Bodys presents: Faith Eliott + Green Gardens
Other Info: Doors at 8pm. Tickets £6 + booking fee.

9.15pm Faith Eliott
Faiths first EP "Insects" was released on Song By Toad Records in 2016. It was received to critical acclaim, played on BBC 6 Music, and the single "Pyrite Ammonite" was included on Steve Lamacqs BBC Recommends playlist.
Faith has since spent a year scooting around the states, where they hark from, and is now back with a new album, "Impossible Bodies", released on 19th April on OK PAL Records. The concept for the album springs from Faith’s interest in medieval bestiaries, illustrated compendiums of animals.
Faith says of the first single Lilith, "I was inspired to write the song after a visit to a reptile petting zoo and seeing all the snakes in glass boxes. The lyrics chronicle an explosive escape in which the snake I call Lilith breaks free from the petting zoo and spirals off into space as the world crumbles and burns behind her. It is a song about feeling captive in an identity, specifically as a woman, but also more generally as a body."

8.30pm Green Gardens
Leftfield rockers Green Gardens embody an impromptu spirit. With funky riffs and exhilarating choruses, the band are as much a vehicle of energy as they are an outlet of true expression. Real exploratory sincerity sets them apart, and darker themes simmer behind the surface of a smiling four-piece.

Chantry Chapel
3 Calder Vale Road, Wakefield, West Yorkshire WF1 5DL
Ticket Information:

Gig at Chantry Chapel in Wakefield

Band / Bands: Bodys presents: Advance Base + Daniel
Other Info: Please take your seats at 7.30pm for this wonderful, intimate show in the beautiful Chantry Chapel in Wakefield.

8.45pm Advance Base
Advance Base is the electronic solo project of Chicago, IL singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone). Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed tunes around his conversational, baritone vocals. The sound of Advance Base has been described as "lo-fi," "depressed" & "weirdly uplifting."
Advance Base has supported live dates for The Postal Service, Pedro the Lion, The Mountain Goats, Dean Wareham (Galaxie 500/Luna), Alan Sparhawk (Low), Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters/Sun Kil Moon) & Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields).
Animal Companionship, the third & most recent album by Advance Base, was released September 21, 2018 by Run For Cover Records / Orindal Records. GoldFlakePaint listed Animal Companionship among their favourite albums of 2018.
Advance Base is named after the Antarctic meteorological station & psychedelic death trap that nearly killed Admiral Richard E. Byrd during the winter of 1934.

8pm Daniel
This will be Daniel's first solo show, in his home town at that, and not one to be missed. Daniel is formerly of The Spills, in which he was songwriter and guitarist, and currently the guitarist in Mi Mye. Not yet fully formed, this new thing will probably involve old friends, though this is currently uncertain. The songs are mainly quite quiet, occasionally loud, and predominantly concern the strangeness of being a person doing, feeling and thinking things. Comparisons include Will Oldham, Mount Eerie, Yo La Tengo.

About the venue
The Chantry Chapel is a beautiful small church on a bridge. There are only three chantry chapels in the whole world! It is located close to Wakefield Kirkgate rail station and a 20 min walk/5 min taxi ride from Wakefield Westgate rail station. The show will be seated, there is a bathroom, and if you would like to drink something it is BYO (bring your own) as there is no bar. Contact Bodys via @bodyswakefield on social media if you have any questions about access or anything else.

9.15pm KITS
Kit - noun - a small fur-bearing animal. KITS is the one-person techno-folk project of Jayson Turner, a Computer Scientist currently living in Glasgow via Manchester and Walney Island. KITS combines vocals, synths, and various bleepy boxes to create simple and meaningful songs ranging from the ecstatically positive to the devastatingly bleak. 8.30pm Shake Your Halo Down

Band / Bands: Summer Series 2019 presents Black Grape, Cast and Dodgy
Other Info: This is a special outdoor event the celebrates all things indie and alt-rock with some of the best names in the scene. It will be the first time Black Grape have played in Leeds since they reformed, will mark a welcome return for Cast who performed a much talked about show at O2 Academy back in December in 2018 and find Dodgy celebrating 25 years of their seminal album Homegrown.

Shaun Ryder's Black Grape were the definitive band of an era who fused rock and electronic, alternative dance and Manchester sounds into a new fusion that produced golden albums like It's Great When You're Straight...Yeah. Their deep lyrics and skilled musicianship leads to mesmeric live shows and riotous atmospheres in the crowd.

Shaun Ryder 'We're really looking forward to playing Summer Series 2019 with Cast and Dodgy - party time in Leeds!!' - Shaun Ryder (Black Grape)

Cast are the Liverpool band who emerged from the Britpop scene with their own take on the sound. Their debut album All Change was Polydor's highest ever selling debut album and commercial success continued throughout the nineties. Often called The Who of the nineties and with Noel Gallagher as a big fan, Cast are coming off the back of a well received greatest hits album and 13 date tour that lit up venues up and down the country.

Dodgy were only together for seven years but sold more than a million records worldwide in that time. They put out three albums and 12 Top 40 singles, including Top 5 hit 'Good Enough' which is a bonafide anthem to this day. Featuring the original line up of Nigel Clark, Andy Miller and Mathew Priest, the newly reformed band are sure to play all their catchiest summer hits from 'Staying Out For The Summer' to 'In A Room'.

Dodgy said "This is one we're really looking forward to this Summer. What a line up!"

Band / Bands: Bodys presents: Living Body + The State of Georgia
Other Info: Doors at 8pm. Entry £6 + booking fee.

9.15pm Living Body
Living Body is the new project from Leeds-based Chicagoan Jeff T. Smith (f.k.a. Juffage) featuring longtime collaborators Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, Wild Beasts, Sleater-Kinney, Flock of Dimes) and Tom Evans (Vessels). Rising from the ashes of their acclaimed Sonic Cauldron concert at Left Bank Leeds, the group is now augmented by Alice Rowan (Mayshe-Mayshe) & Sarah Statham (Esper Scout).
Following their evolution into a live band in summer 2016, the group has toured extensively throughout the UK, EU and North America, including performances at SXSW, Canadian Music Week, Tramlines, S?n, ArcTanGent, and Carefully Planned festivals, with sessions for BreakThru Radio and Daytrotter. Their debut LP Body Is Working was received favourably by BrooklynVegan, Stereogum, Exclaim!, Drowned In Sound, the Skinny, God Is In The TV, and Louder Than War, with airplay on BBC 6 Music and Amazing Radio, among others. Expanding on the need for music to bring joy into the lives of others, and Smiths fascination with the contortion of the pop song into a uniquely imaginative and immediate form, Living Body aims to exist in a world of skin and information overload in 2018.
Here at Bodys we love all the songs, and have seen them live heaps of times, and here is one of our favourites, Last True Few.

8.30pm The State of Georgia
The State of Georgia is singer / songwriter and pianist Georgia Jakubiak. Georgia has four studio albums, the most recent Roses and Swallows includes single Stay Awake which gained radio plays on BBC6 Music and BBC Introducing. Last year she released a collection of traditional folk songs which she recorded especially for her dad which has been selling world wide.
Georgias most recent gigs include the medal ceremony for the para athletics in Londons Olympic Park and a festival for 'King' in Barcelona. Her latest record 'Punching' has gained her a gig at Manchester Arena for the World Taekwondo Championships and is due for release later this year with an album to follow.
Her melodic piano pop and heart felt lyrics take influence from Kate Bush, Tori Amos and more recently artists such as Birdy and Sia.
