Jelly Cleaver is a guitarist, activist, producer and singer songwriter based in South London. Described as “the next artist to make an impact on the London jazz scene” by DJ and broadcaster Tina Edwards (Worldwide FM), Jelly is the recipient of the Steve Reid Innovation Award as well as a Serious Take Five artist, and was most recently nominated for an Ivors Composer Award. The artist has announced her latest project, ‘Jelly Cleaver and the Forever Presence’, a spiritual jazz ensemble featuring some of London’s rising talents who collectively perform with the likes of Steam Down, Tomorrow’s Warriors, and Levitation Orchestra.

Against the background of London’s dynamic jazz scene, The Forever Presence takes the neglected elements of ballads and beauty, adding subtle modern techniques to reflect our timeless but modern problems. The music pays tribute to artists like Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane and Dhafer Youssef, exploring the eternal themes of our human condition; loss, love and the universe.
