Linkin Park Performed By 1000 Musicians. Are You Joining The Band?

Are you a Linkin Park fan? Want to support an incredible charity doing huge things for the alternative scene? Whether you’re a musician or not, this event is for you. Sunday 18th August sees Birmingham Utilita Arena host a spectacular night of music to raise funds for a charity doing some special stuff.

Uprawr Mental Health Foundation is looking for 1000 musicians to form a band for one pretty epic night only. The alternative supergroup is also set to include members of several high-profile alternative acts including Holding Absence, Funeral for a Friend, and Mallory Knox. Rules are; you must sing, play guitar, bass, drums, or keys and will need to learn two Linkin Park songs. Doesn’t matter if you’ve been playing for one year or 30, if you can play, you’re in!

Fund Raising

"To improve the mental health and emotional resilience of the people who love rock and alternative music"

The mission statement for Uprawr, their founders, sponsors, and committed team who work every day to better the lives of those within the community.

After Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington tragically committed suicide back in 2017, together they decided more could be done, and with the funding and support raised from events such as this, the charity now provides free, bespoke mental health counselling to people aged 18-35. Here are several ways you can support the great work they do.

Join The Audience

If you’re not a proficient musician but can't miss this event, grab yourself a ticket and attend as a spectator. Tickets from £14.30 and are open to anyone 14+. You’ll get to experience not only 1000 musicians performing two iconic tracks, but there will also be talks and video messages from famous faces from the alternative music scene, and tribute act L1nkin P4rk performing plenty more songs you’ll all know and love. Tickets are very limited with the general release and second release selling out fast. Now on the third release, grab your audience ticket here.

Join The Band

For those wishing to perform, you’ll simply need to pay a registration fee of £25, grab yourself a participant ticket here, and set up a Just Giving page to raise sponsorship. The main aim is to spread the word on social media, with friends, family, and your workplace to raise as much money as you can! As an added incentive, the charity is also running a competition - the five individuals in each category (vocals, drums, guitar, bass & keys) who raise the most money will have the chance to perform on stage with the house band alongside the big named legendary musicians who are making their appearance on the night. For all performers, the minimum participant age is 16.

Donate

If for any reason you’re unable to attend on the day but reading about the essential services this charity provides has had an impact on you, then please consider donating to the cause. You can simply donate as much or as little are you can here.

"By donating, you will be making a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness, and helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental health"

Merch

And finally, another opportunity to show your support is to purchase some of the organisation’s awesome branded Uprawr merchandise. Not only does the money raised go straight back to the charity, continuing the good work they do, but by sporting their logo as a music fan, you’ll be spreading the word, and sharing the charity’s brand at gigs & events you attend.

Thank you for your support, it is invaluable within our music community and benefits so many individuals. Gig Guide wishes Uprawr every success with this event and we will be in attendance on the night, so if you see us, be sure to come and say a big fat hello!
